Hey! I’m Ashton. I love the outdoors and living on the coast. I was born and raised in South Carolina, so this is what I call home. In my spare time you can find me at the beach, on the river, fishing, painting, journaling, working on a DIY project, cooking, or traveling. My little-old-lady furbaby, Roxi, comes with me everywhere- even to the office!
If you’ve ever heard of the Enneagram, my personality type is a 9 or "Peacemaker," which is known for being understanding, patient, supportive, and genuine. I can assure you that you will feel accepted, understood, and at ease when working with me.
I’m passionate about mental health because it is just as real and important as physical health; and just like a broken bone or a physical illness, emotional wounds can fester, spread, and affect multiple areas of your life if left untreated. If there is no shame in going to a doctor for a broken bone, then there shouldn't be any shame in seeing a therapist when your life feels off balance and you haven't been improving on your own.
I know what it’s like to feel stuck, to question your entire existence, and to want to give up. I’m grateful for the challenges I’ve overcome in my life because they’ve enabled me to truly empathize with my clients while knowing that things can get better...much better.
I attended Newberry College for my BA and Eastern Virginia Medical School for my MS in Art Therapy & Counseling. I have intensive training and experience in Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing. I have over 10 years of experience working with a variety of populations in the field of mental health.
As always, I’m excited to work with motivated, introspective individuals who want to feel better about themselves, life, and their relationships. Contact me to schedule a free 15-minute consultation or schedule your first appointment.
